Our Summer Reading program is a voluntary program. We encourage students to keep their reading skills sharp over the summer months by reading for enjoyment. So, NRHS students can choose a title from our Suggested Reading List – or choose any title that is interesting and age appropriate.
To make Summer Reading more fun, when students return to NRHS for the new school year, they can enter a drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate to a local bookstore. Twenty lucky readers (five from each graduating class) will win a gift certificate. The funds for the gift certicates have been granted by the very nice folks of the Nashoba Regional High School Endowment Fund.
Entering the drawing is easy. Simply fill out the form on the back of the NRHS Summer Reading 2009 brochure, sign it and enter it into the box for the proper graduating class year. (Incoming freshmen are the Class of 2013). Each student can enter up to three times by reading three different titles. Entries must be in by the end of school on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 and the winners will be announced in their English classes on Thursday, September 10.
Brochures are available on this blog, at the Bolton Public Library, the Randall Library in Stow and the Thayer Memorial Library in Lancaster. They will also be available in the Media Center when school re-opens.
It’s fun, it’s easy and it’s worthwhile in so many good ways!
Over the next several months, we will be developing a Long Range Plan for the NRHS Media Center. When this plan is complete and approved within our school district, it will be submitted to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners for approval.
Why is it important for the NRHS Media Center to have a long range plan?
First of all, it provides an opportunity for everyone in the NRHS community to have a voice in what the NRHS Media Center will look like in the future. In addition, upon approval by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners the NRHS Media Center will be eligible to apply for federal grants.
As part of the planning process, we will be surveying groups of students, teachers, parents and community members. In the near future, we will be asking members of the NRHS community to take part in online surveys and in one-on-one surveys. We would really appreciate your participation!
Why Do I Need a BPL eCard? Why Do I Need a BPL eCard? On Tuesday, November 4, I’ll be demonstrating how to apply for a BPL eCard at the NRSD Professional Development Day.
A BPL eCard is easy to get and very handy when you simply cannot find magazine or newspaper articles from within your own library network – or if you’d like a wider variety of audiobooks or music to download.
Best of all, it’s FREE! The only requirement is that you must live, work or own property in Massachusetts and be over the age of 13.
If you would like your very own eCard, here are the steps:
